The History Of Mama Pajama
When Mama Pajama's son Austin was born, she did what parents do naturally; sing and rock the baby. Mama Pajama sang baby Austin to sleep with traditional lullabies and her own improvised tunes. As Austin grew into a toddler, he started to sing these songs and when people frequently asked who wrote these songs, Mama realized that she wanted to share them children around the world.
Austin was not very fond of naptime and so Mama Pajama decided to make that time special and fun so that the young boy may relax and enjoy the time he got to rest. Mama Pajama explained to little Austin that Rest Time Is The Best Time and told him wild and wonderful stories at the same time and same place each and every day. This became a time Austin never wanted to miss out on. Mama Pajama wanted to share these stories and adventures with children and their parents all over the world.
In late 2006, Mama Pajama had plans of opening a daycare and calling it “Mama Pajama’s Playhouse”. She completed the process and received her certification, but ultimately chose to follow her dream of sharing her songs and stories to children all over the world. Because she was beginning her performances in her home and wore her jammies, the name Mama Pajama seemed fitting. The "Playhouse" in the early days offered story times and small concerts held right in Mama Pajama's very own living room. In 2007, Mama Pajama met Singer/Guitarist, Ann Wieder and began playing music.
On September 13, 2008, Mama Pajama had her formal grand opening performance in the middle of a local shopping plaza parking lot, and the rest, as they say, is history. Ann Wieder performed with Mama Pajama as “Jammin’ Annie”, Mama's guitarist and side-kick until the summer of 2011. In 2011 Jay Gould, "Jumpin Jay" became her daytime guitarist, performing until spring of 2014. Mama Pajama's son, Austin Raabe, began singing with his mama at the age of five. In 2013, Austin became a permanent player for Mama Pajama as the evening and weekend guitarist/singer performing as “Rockin’ Raabe.” Mama Pajama also performs story-times at libraries, preschools, and private functions. Since late 2013, Mama Pajama has been published through Dream Girl Publishing.
